Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

Looking at my photos you'd think I do nothing other than drive to and fro from one soccer practice/game to another.  Well friends, you would be correct and Mother's Day was no exception.  In fact, the middle child promised me a championship medal for mom's day and boy did he and the team deliver.  Proud mama here for sure.

The best brotherly cheer squad on earth.

Hope your Mother's Day was all blue skies and sunshine, as well!

P.S.- here's a fun, new-to-me discovery for printing those ever-multiplying Instagram pics.  I came across this easy to use app, Printicular, this weekend.  It's billed as "the most convenient way to print your Instagram, Facebook, Flickr, Dropbox and Camera Roll at Walgreens."  I picked up my first order today and love the fun 4 x 4 format.  I feel a new addiction developing...so be forewarned.

Game On.

It's soccer Saturday.  Heck, around here, it's soccer everyday.  We are finally coming out of the winter doldrums and the forecast calls for 73 beautiful degrees.  Hello sunscreen!

And in case you were wondering about the photo above, yes, it was a goal.

Happy almost Spring, friends.

Effortless Chic

So I said I wasn't back to blogging, buuuut then I saw this room.  Bathroom, to be more precise.  Oh yes, I said bathroom.  I know, shut up...right?!?

See, bathroom!  Or as owner Miranda Brooks, a landscape designer and Vogue Contributing Editor (and wife to architect Bastien Halard, nephew of famed photographer Francois Halard), notes:

“It’s like a library/sitting room with a bathtub in it,” says Brooks. The hanging light is by Gerrit Rietveld. The bench is 18th-century Swedish and the curtains are made of indigo-dyed Japanese mosquito netting.

Yes, ma'am, I do concur.  And might I add, fabulous!  When I'm all grown up I want to live just like this.  True effortless chic.

Happy New Year!

Hellooooo!  And Happy New Year!  Long time no talk.  I'm not back to blogging, alas, no time as the threesome below has been keeping me busy nonstop, but if for no one other than myself, I try to document a snapshot of my offspring at least once a year.  If you have children then you know how difficult it is to get even one good image of a smiling, cooperative child.  However, if you have upwards of one child, well, it's almost impossible to get said shot.  See proof below.

Nonetheless, looking at my boys goofing around, I'm reminded as always to count my blessings and, truth be told, I think I like the blurry, fuzzy, slightly out of focus shots the best.  After all, life doesn't stand still and clearly, neither do my threesome.

And yes, in case you were wondering, this one is almost always the culprit.

Happy New Year, friends.  I hope 2013 brings you all joy, peace, and blessings too numerous to count.

Just a Thought...

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.”

The Great Outdoors

Stunning landscape architecture from the firm of Page|Duke. I'm amazed with the attention to detail. However, my favorite takeaway from this portfolio may very well be the generous use of green. While I can keep my house plants relatively healthy and alive, my green thumb does not extend to the great outdoors. As much as I love beautiful flowers, the commitment it takes to produce copious, colorful blooms is more than I can squeeze into my schedule. So it is wonderful to see how much texture, variation of color, and design can be achieved with simple green plantings.

Be sure to visit Page|Duke for so much more verdant inspiration.

Textural Explosion

Bamboo, rattan, wicker, palm fronds, and whimsical butterflies. I'm always lamenting the suffocating heat we experience down south, but get me a cold drink and a whirring ceiling fan and I'd be quite content to while away my summer days in this tropical pad.
