Dark can definitely work in the right places. If you're interested I also just posted a fun Paperwork art giveaway! - http://pleasesirblog.blogspot.com/2010/09/paperwork-giveaway.html
Glad you liked that first picture! I found it in a book called San Francisco Style. The rest of the home is completely stark and modern (not really to my taste) but that den is so intimate and luxe- with a hint of Gothic style. I just want to curl up in that plush carpet and read Wuthering Heights by the fire!
Naomi: According to the book, the fireplace is antique marble- isn't it gorgeous?
Delicious indeed! I'm so not over dark walls (particularly black or navy).
ReplyDeletewish i could walk around in that first room and get a better look. Especially that fireplace. Is it gold? Me-oh My-oh!
ReplyDeletemmmm...hmmmm.
ReplyDeletethat little window in picture 1 is whispering sweet nothings to me.
Feels like fall coming....
ReplyDeleteI love the vibe of the first picture....moody but not dreary.Love

You know how I love a dark wall!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing it Elizabeth, I think it's amazing too.
ReplyDeleteThat first photo reminds me of an old Michael Taylor living room. I need to dig the picture out of my files.
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking of painting my walls dark, but just can't commit.
ReplyDeleteooohhhh, this is speaking to me! I love it! You pick the best things to show off, and I have not seen this image before, quite a feat.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I have a different view of #1 bookmarked somewhere... now the search is on!
ReplyDeleteAt any rate, I love love love it.
Kk, I give up - can't find it. It's so good I must have seen it in my dreams.
