Although this is a commercial space, I think the designer did a brilliant job of creating an intimate, totally inviting, and cozy dining spot. I would happily recreate this look in my breakfast nook. A perfectly broken in tufted chesterfield, a set of gorgeous leather mid-century chairs, and a cushy velvet pillow. Yes, please. Oh, and I mustn't forget the white painted brick. I want summa that, too.

Gosh, this one gives me goosebumps. I'm a huge fan of Barrie Benson and her especially deft ability to combine vintage, traditional, masculine, and feminine elements...but this one is exceptional. That mirror absolutely slays me with the ever-so-simple linear gold frame and then the striking action happening on the interior. The wallpaper is out-and-out fun and the play of the gorgeous art (photography) against the wallpaper and with the mirror, in particular, is fantastic. Then those girly vintage chairs and that curvy burl console...yum! Needless to say, I want this set-up. Baaaad.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Barcelona. Magical Barcelona. With its fanciful, centuries-old architecture, lyrical language, beautiful people...that trip will forever be ingrained in my subconscious. So when I came across this masterpiece of an 18th Century flat, smack dab in the middle of Barcelona, there was no way that I wouldn't fall hard. And I did. Look at the tile, people. You know they had me at the tile.

You know how you spot an image and then follow a link and by the time you're all done you're not sure how you arrived at your final destination. Well, I spotted this beautiful bedroom in Sara Ruffin Costello's latest article for the WSJ and just had to see more of this home. Unfortunately, I couldn't locate more images online, however the wild goose chase led me to discover the work of artist Claudio Bravo.

Bravo, a Chilean artist, lived and worked in Morocco. Here are but a few of his amazing hyper-realist masterpieces. Are you as fascinated as I am by by the perfect depictions of everyday objects. I literally want to crawl into one of these beautiful paintings.

Welcome to The Olde Bell. Steeped in history, this boutique hotel first opened its doors in 1135. I think they've done a little bit of renovating since and I love how the old and new manage to commingle beautifully.

My favorite detail has to be those cleverly draped restaurant booths.

Gorgeous woven blankets in traditional prints, held snugly in place by what appears to be a leather strap. Like I said, a perfect marriage of the old and the new.

A Reader's Home Tour: MB's Spectacular Dallas Home

I love looking at beautiful interiors. I know that's no news to you and if you're reading this, you probably do too. Perfectly executed rooms that are expertly photographed make me positively tingle with glee and my blood pressure has been known to literally soar at the sight of these. Yet, perhaps, what I love even more is a beautiful real home. One that is decorated over time, layer by layer, with artifacts of a life well-lived. Welcome to just such a home. These gorgeous photos are of mb's house. Or, as I know her and some of you may as well, Marybeth. I love it when I see a comment left on Head Over Heels preceded by mb. I know it will be something insightful or funny or both, and always special.

Marybeth is a long-time reader and I knew she had some major style. She's a painter, wife of a hotelier, mother of some incredibly talented and equally beautiful daughters. So it really comes as no surprise that her home is a an amazing amalgamation of beautiful objects, expertly arranged, and so very livable and inviting. I was thrilled when Marybeth agreed to a home tour and have been ogling all the details since the photos started to arrive.

The architectural details alone are something outstanding...the plaster walls, pitched ceilings and beams, the saltillo tiles, and beautiful woodwork. However, it's the evidence of a well-travelled life that has me transfixed. The gorgeous blend of textiles and patinated finishes, a little chinoiserie alongside American and English antiques, and above all, the stunning art that make for a perfectly eclectic home. Yeah, I said it, eclectic. I think the word has become taboo in design circles, and yet that's what this home is. Thank you Marybeth for graciously sharing your gorgeous place. If I'm ever in Dallas, expect a knock on the door.

Friday Fixation: Artist Victoria Reichelt

Oil on linen. That's right, I said oil on linen. As in paintings, people. Prepare to be amazed.

There is little I love more in a beautiful interior than a wonderfully inviting, loosely unkempt bookshelf. In fact, we are voracious readers here at casa Head Over Heels. So much so, that you can hardly take a step in our household without tripping over a book. No lie. Hence, you can imagine how enthralled I was when I came across the amazing work of artist Victoria Reichelt. The realism exhibited in her paintings is, well, um unreal. I can not wrap my head around the fact that these are oil paintings and not photographs. What an incredible talent, what insane control, and what an incredible eye for accuracy and detail. Definitely having a wow moment.

Seriously, is your heart beating a little (a lot!) faster after viewing that display of deliciousness? Mine is positively racing. This line of utterly amazing sconces, lamps, and accessories comes from Matthew Studios and the materials are absolutely exquisite. From lucite to malachite, natural python to shagreen, they have it all. Not to mention the stunning rocks and minerals! Ok, I'll mention them...we are talking amethyst, gypsum, quartz, citrine, smoky black quartz, and turquoise. Seriously, I have died and gone to lamp heaven. Deep breaths, people. But, my favorite of all might just be that agate and brass side table. It is sublime perfection. Just the right mix of organic and glam. Bravo, Matthew Studios. Bravo.

I have lamps on the brain. Firstly, This delicate pink number. Actually, I'm all about the shade. So pretty in all its blush and bashful subtle color and then, kapow, a golden glow from underneath.

And then there is this gilded malachite stunner. Really. Wow.

I know some people find taxidermy appalling, but, clearly, I am not some people.

So lo and behold, look what's hanging out on Atlanta's Craigslist.

Seriously. Tell me it was not meant to be. A peacock. Perfectly preserved. And, only...$995. Dammit. Worth every penny too, if you ask me. Now I just have to convince Mr. P that it was all his idea. Yeah, not happening.

That's right, an IKEA FRACK mirror ($4.99!) and some basic lighting components yield a fabulously stylish bedside fixture. The genius behind this terrific IKEA hack, Daniel of Manhattan Nest, managed to pull this project off in about 15 minutes for less than $20. I am no queen of DIY, but this one seems so straightforward and the results so great, I might just give it a-go. See the complete tutorial, here.

In other news, we were all so smitten with the gorgeous floor in Tia Zoldan's latest spread in Better Homes & Gardens, I felt the need to contact Tia and get all the details. True to her generous nature, Tia shared the details about those beautiful black pavers. The tiles are from Mission Tile West in Pasadena, California. Tia explains that they are heavy cement pavers which she sealed in a high gloss sealer (brilliant!) for that spectacular shiny finish. The tiles are called San Felipe, square edge, 10 1/2 x 10 1/2 in Jet Black. Vendor #60. I've loved seeing the evolution of Tia Zoldan's home. Her own kitchen, in all of its incarnations, is a particular favorite of mine. So I was thrilled when she posted an image of one of her latest projects, the gorgeous kitchen above. That floor gives me goosebumps. Pinky swear. As do those windows. My only complaint is that there are no more online photos to drool over. Time to get the September issue of Better Homes & Gardens.
