Keepin' it Real

The article accompanying these images describes this kitchen as exhibiting "evidence of a hands on existence." I love that. I also love that ridiculously large slab of cypress propped up on the ever utilitarian set of sawhorses. Brilliant.

  8. I Love the big bold elements and the overall idea, but all that shit's gotta go. Looks too much like someones camping trip vomited all over...

    Too real for me....

  9. ok, in the spirit of open mindedness, I went to the link and duh, whatayaknow, I live not far away from this place... Overall, amazing, amazing...but all the stuff in the kitchen? Still buggin me out. easily half could be put away and still maintain that bohemian vibe.

and yes, I know you didn't ask. But hell, I'm in that kind of mood.....

  10. This kitchen takes my breath away. I'd like a little more room on that giant slab to roll out some pie dough, but wow. I detest kitchens (mine own included unfortunately) that place more importance shiny surfaces, design, or whatever than to the actual preperation of food. This looks like a kitchen where one could make some serious grub.

  11. Hi Kate. Certainly this place isn't for everyone, but it looks like the family that gets to enjoy it, does just that. I'm impressed that a glossy magazine spread showed the way this family really lives! :-)
