Daily Pretty

I'm head over heels for this what-I'm-certain-is-custom banquette. The color selection is amazing, the velvet goodness--divine, the nailhead detail--subtle perfection. I'm also more than a little in love with the wee stool. Now the only question is, how do I make it mine?!?

You can make that beautiful corner yourself. Get two big plywood panels, wrap with cotton batting. Cover with gorgeous fabric and hammer the studs in. Attach the panels to your wall with "V" clips that you can get at Lowes. Find an affordable base... Ikea maybe? Cover it with batting and then get to work with the heavy duty staple gun. The mattress is a tad bit harder to replicate. The tufting makes it. With another great fabric made to look like a deep contour sheet, you would get the great
cozy corner all your own. :) Dare ya.

My mom had wall to wall carpet in that exact color (with the green and gold couch).

Flashback!

MB, you're so funny. Don't think the very thought didn't cross my mind. I actually have an amazingly talented FIL who could pull this off, I'm sure. However, what I don't have is an empty corner deserving of this beauty. Time for a for sale sign? ;0)

Get ye to an upholsterer, stat.
I remember this room well. I crushed on it hard back when it was published.
I remember the designer talking about having the banquette custom-made.
In fact, I'm pretty sure he sleeps there.
It's gorgeous.
Cheers, Alcira

I have space in my new bedroom for a sitting area and I love the idea of something like this. Low to the floor, casual, but dressed up with nailheads. Yums! Saving this one for the file.

Love this idea. I'm moving soon and am now dreaming of using this idea in my guest bedroom/playspace for the kids.
Thanks!
