Now why didn't I think of that?

I don't normally post on the weekend, but I just spotted this clever, and great-looking, kitchen over on Apartment Therapy and I just had to share. Do you see that smart locker application? Yep, a set of six half-sized lockers was recessed into the wall between their kitchen and powder room. And voila, an instant pantry with fantastic style. Such a great idea! And those blue kitchen cabinets aren't too shabby either. This one is definitely going into the memory bank.

It must be in the air... Last week I did not one but TWO posts about metal cabinets in the kitchen!

I was wavering back and forth between whether or not it felt too High School locker room or Chemistry Lab ~ and here you are embracing it to the fullest!

I think it looks really cool, but as you'll see from the comments on my posts... most my readers had a hard time with the look.

When you have a moment, check out ABCD Design here: http://www.abcddesign.com/archives/2010/01/13/curious-about-metal-kitchen-cabinets/

Hi ABC, so glad you stopped by. Welcome!

I will definitely check out your posts. I understand how an all metal cabinet kitchen can waver on the side of feeling too clinical, but I think tempered with warmer wood elements it can be beautiful and so functional. I think Martha Stewart used lab cabinets in one of her homes and I remember a kitchen of her daughter's years ago using the same materials and it was beautiful. But I suppose not for everyone.

Have a wonderful Sunday! -nelya

Ha, I didn't even notice that, Raina. Actually, I noticed the fixture and thought it was an antler chandalier painted white. Geez, someone is getting old and needs glasses! Yea, that'd be me.

So many unique and interesting elements here. I like the look of the metal cabinets, but I fear the sound of them opening daily would give me too many throwbacks to the middle and high school years (which although not at all traumatic, I don't want to revisit). I like the blue cabinets and subway tile up the way wall.

That is way cool!! I scored an old locker that is the same blue color that is on the cabinets. It's in my garage and is so practical. When I bought it a woman told me she had seen a similar one in a magazine that was painted white and was used to store dishes etc. but I don't think it was recessed into the wall!
What a fab idea. Thanks so much for sharing! Happy Sunday :)
