I'm a big fan of the couple behind Modernseed, a furniture, fashion, and design company geared toward the small set. So it was a real treat to come across their beautiful mid-century modern home in Dwell magazine. The house itself, nestled amongst the trees, is a vintage gem that the Pfeiffers essentially left as-is, scratches, dings, and history intact. I love all the telltale signs of its mid-century roots, the peaked ceilings, the radiant-heated concrete floors, and the wide expanses of windows and sliding glass doors. Read more about it here.

The homeowner, Eric Pfeiffer, also happens to be a furniture designer and his workshop/studio is located on the property. Over the years we've purchased a few of Pfeiffer's family-friendly pieces of furniture, among other things, from Modernseed. Above are some of our favorites. If you have children I highly recommend all of these pieces. They are as durable and resilient as they are stylish.
And if you'd like to take a peek at some of them in our home, take a look here, here, and here.

I love that warm, high ceilinged living room. I keep dreaming that I'm going to stumble across something like that when house hunting... doubtful, but I can dream, right?

that is my kind of house! i really like the mix of materials right when you walk in, and the orange-red door is a perfect pop of color.

um...i forgot how amazing your basement is; and am reminded how horrible mine looks.
my poor, neglected basement needs some serious attention.
