I need your advice. Yes, I'm talking to YOU!

I need your help friends. We are in the market for a new mattress and it has been years and years since I've had to figure out mattress lingo. Innerspring, memory foam, pillow top, euro top, it's all greek to me. Does anyone have a mattress that they swear by? Talk to me.
Thanks so much!

We sleep on a latex mattress from IKEA. The big selling point for latex and foam mattresses is that dust mites cannot penetrate them, so allergies are reduced.

Latex is firmer than foam. Foam can get very hot.

best wishes for finding the right one. I don't have any knowledge or expertise in the area, but I will be checking back to see what tips others leave....good luck...

We have a Tempurpedic. Huge investment, and I first I hated it because it was too firm for me - but now I love it. Bill's loved it from day 1.

Good luck, dearest!

I'm assuming you don't want to spend in the 5-figure price range so the next best thing in my opinion is the Westin Heavenly Bed. You can buy at Nordstrom. That's what we have and I swear I'll never sleep on anything else ever again. Just go lie down on one in the store. You won't want to get up. It's that awesome.

My husband and I live on our Serta Pillowtop. We also purchased a patterned memory foam pad from Macy's to go on top of it. You may want to check out Consumer Reports to get a larger opinion pool.

Hi Melanie. Thanks for the input. I'm so glad you stopped by, welcome!

we took the plunge and bought a simmons beauty rest at Macy's. There are SO many options, it gets overwhelming. It does get kind of hot but SO comfortable. Like...not-want-to-EVER-get-out-of-bed comfortable. Definitely look at consumer report. Homework matters when you spend 35% of your life on it. And don't be shy to just put your feet up and hang out on it for a while!

Hello tanisesther! Thanks for chiming in, I appreciate the advice. And thanks for visiting, welcome!

My husband and I sleep on a Westin Heavenly bed also (unbelievably heavenly). We got ours directly through Starwood but I saw someone said you could get one through Nordstrom. Good luck! Your bed is definetly one thing you want to get right.

I'm late to this party... We have an Original Mattress Factory king-sized bed. It's firm with a soft pillow-top. It was waaay too expensive, but it's sheer heaven. I think they are located near you.

I've also slept on Westin's Heavenly Bed and can whole-heartedly endorse it!

Latex, latex, latex. And no pillow top. People love their pillow tops, but they don't hold up as long as the mattresses. Buy a topper that you can replace, if you want that softness. IKEA has great toppers.

I happen to be a big fan/follower of Dr. Weil. This is the mattress he's recommending lately. Unfortunately, I didn't have the info when I purchased mine two years ago.

hi, i'm curious... did you settle on a mattress? hubby and i are going thru this debate currently. he really wanted a tempurpedic, but i think i've talked him out of it due to the amount of outgassing it does. next debate is latex vs innerspring. pam

Hi Pam, no we haven't settled on a mattress as we are still waiting for our bed to be completed, but we tried out numerous models and decided tempurpedic and latex are not for us. We tried both out and I just didn't find them comfortable. As it stands, we found am amazing taditional mattress at Macy's that has a super soft pillow top and is
made of organic cotton. I'm sorry, I can't recall the brand. The other one in the running is the Westin Heavenly Bed. I'll update once we decide, probably next week. Thanks
for checking back!
