Friday Fixation: Dos Family

A renovated farmhouse in Sweden. Need I say more? Ok, if you insist. ;0)
I think this beautiful, simple abode really speaks volumes to the fact that you don't need much to make a house a home. The house is spare, the color palette restrained, and yet, when it comes down to the nitty gritty, the house just oozes personality in bucketfuls. Stunning, just stunning.
And speaking of fixations, I am totally fixated on this new-to-me site, Dos Family. Careful, it's contagious. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Cassie, thanks for the introduction.

"I think this beautiful, simple abode really speaks volumes to the fact that you don't need much to make a house a home." I just wanted to point out the fact that...renovating a farmhouse or any living space quite frankly is ANYTHING FROM SIMPLE and ANYTHING FROM NOT NEEDING MUCH. Ripping flooring out, walls, insulation, repipeing, rewiring, reinstalling, walls, ceilings, roofs, heating systems, new windows...ETC. is anything from simple and not needing much. You need lots of beer, cigarettes, negotiating, heart, liver, mind failure...tons of money, building permits, architects, energy consultants...blah blah blah...and at the same time trying to juggle daily life with some sense of sanity...to make this simple reno look remotley feng shui. Sometimes I think minimalism was invented to put aside the fact that one has run out of time, energy, patience and MONEY. Ce la vie...

Hi Floshkit. If you read my post as carefully as you tried to make it appear, you would have noticed that I
made no mention of the renovation process. I do not know these people or the process by which they came to have such a lovely home. But the home itself, in my humble opinion, is
beautiful, simple in the sense of it's openness and lack of decorative elements and the stuff of life.

As for the rest, OUCH, sounds like you have a chip on your shoulder. So thanks for stopping by and be sure to have one of those beers this weekend. I think you need it .

(OH.EM.GEE. Okay, I'm just going to pretend I just didn't see that comement up there. Wow.)

And back to what I was going to write, dear: I know...! I also just found about this via http://blissfulb.blogspot.com/2009/09/my-happy-place-julias-home.html

Which sent me rushing over to the site (anything Swedish makes me weak in the knees), where I drooled over the same farmhouse you have here (of course), and find the whole site to be tons of fun! Love love love, all around!

Have a wonderful weekend,
-maria
