Before I got to that last photo, I was thinking, "You know, it's amazing how a really good photographer can make something small or ordinary so beautiful!" (which is true...) - BUT then I saw that awesome stair runner!!!
It's fabulous! I wish I had stairs in my house so that I could cover them this way!
It looks like it was pieced together with different kelim rugs.
The only thing I would change is that I would have it come down and meet the floor, not stop at the nose of the first step. But I'm a carpet snob...

i love everything about that last photo. having an arched doorway like that would make me very happy.
