I just love these photos. When our house was on the market, 2 different real estate agents told us to clear the house of all books -- by the bed, on the book shelves, everywhere. “People want empty shelves. They don't like your books." It made me so sad. A home without books just lacks depth.
Yes!..a house is not a home without shelves stacked thick with books.
sooooo beautiful. books are cool. susie q your real estate agent was probably referring to people who don't know how to style shelves. that or he was a douche.
Susieq, get a new real estate agent. Interesting, we have moved many times (husband is a hotelier). Each time our houses sold within three days. (moves happened in good and bad markets) Sometimes on the first day with multiple offers... books were always stacked everywhere and bookshelves were packed with treasures.
That last room - wow. What beautiful architectural details... And I love all the organized chaos that stacks of books create... They're wonderful to read, and then they became such beautiful sculptural pieces..!-maria
PS.love the bookshelves in your photos. I did however want to sneeze while looking at a couple of them.
oooohhh -- i love a wall of books! i remember that 5th picture from domino magazine -- in fact, i think i tore it out. how i miss that magazine...
Susie: what Jenny said. ;0)
that third picture makes me crazy happy
I love these pictures, probably because I am drowning in books myself!
Makes me want to move all of the items on my Amazon wish list to the shopping cart!
A library...That's on my "hopefully one of these days" list. Enjoyed looking at the libraries you posted in the meantime. :o) Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. Glad you enjoyed it. Hope you'll be coming back.
What I wouldn't give for a room entirely consumed by built ins!
