Prepare to be Amazed

Truth be told, I am so over summer. The nonstop sweltering heat, teetering on daily triple digits has got me spent. But if I had the opportunity for one last summer hurrah before bidding this season adieu, I would want to spend it here, at the stunning UXUA Casa Hotel. Choose among nine spectacular artisan constructed homes, all the while enjoying 5-star hotel services while nestled in a tiny Bahian fishing village overlooking the sea. Paradise? Yes.

What's not to like.

I spotted this beautiful home on Marie Claire Maison. Unfortunately, my high school french eludes me, but language barriers aside, I still recognize "refuge," "familial," "paradise." Seems like we understand one another after all.

Friday Fixation: A Threesome

Now get your minds out of the gutter...I'm talking about all that glass. Oh to have endless views of verdant mountainsides. And don't think I'm eschewing the cityscape, 'cause I'd take that in a heartbeat as well.

Southern Exposure: Texas Country Modern

A few years ago, my husband and I entertained the idea of finding/building a little mountain getaway in the nearby North Georgia mountains. We searched far and wide and never did find the majestic view or site we were searching for. But we did have a distinct and singular vision of the type of house where we wanted to set up camp. After spotting this Texas retreat designed by architect Trey Rabke, I feel as though he crawled into my mind and put onto solid land the home that had been dwelling inside my head. I love the way this house blends seamlessly into its surrounding landscape, the use of rustic elements and the simple, commonsense details such as the galvanized troughs turned bathtubs. Great design doesn't have to be elaborate. Here's an example of making the most of modest materials. I'm ready to move in.
