Kindred Spirit {of sorts}

Hi there ya'll. As some of you may have noticed*, I've been taking a bit of an unintended blog hiatus. A number of recent events and an overall increased busy-ness in our already busy and at times hectic household have made me come down with the blahs (that's an official medical condition, didn't ya know) and I just haven't been able to summon my blogging mojo as of late.
In particular, my sweet, sweet Grandmother passed away two weeks ago. I've lived within a 30 minute range of her my entire life, save for one year when my family immigrated to the United States when I was a child. Needless to say, this life changing event has left me in a bit of a funk and completely uninspired.
Which brings me to this post and the above (fantastic!) images. This home immediately resonated with me and made me instantly think of my beloved Babushka. She was a bit of a pack rat, as was my grandfather, and loved to decorate with found objects and lovingly curated collections. So I instantly fell for this farmhouse in the Catskills and its myriad collections of "artful clutter."
Admittedly, this look is not for everyone, but I just adore the layered upon layered feel and the sense that this home has evolved over time. There is no doubt in my mind that this house is much more then just a structure with four walls and a roof. No, in my eyes, it is a home in every sense...considered, yet effortless and unabashedly welcoming and inviting. I've completely fallen head over heels.

{*I just wanted to say thank you to those of you who noticed my absence and were concerned enough to check in. I so appreciate your kindness and sincere wishes. Thank you. And while I don't know that I'm back in full swing just yet, please know that each comment, every visit, kind mention and overall generosity of this blogging community have always brought a smile to my face.}

So very sorry for your loss.

Loved this house and it's artful clutter. It was perfectly restrained.

So sorry for your loss. My relationship to my grandmother, who passed three years ago, was probably the most important of my life. It is an ache always, but I hope each day gets softer. A huge hug from here.

Oh, loved the house. That first image is about perfect.

I just saw HOH pop up in my RSS feed and I'm so, so glad to ‘hear your voice.’ I'm so sorry that your grandmother passed. What an incredibly hard time. And our monsoon-like weather is a gloomy backdrop.

I love this beautifully cluttered house too and love that it honored the memory of your grandmother. Thank you as always for your lovely photos and words.

Hi, dear. You know what's funny..? I have found myself missing my grandmother since we exchanged emails last week... This was a beautiful tribute, like Raina said, and I know she is smiling warmly at you from wherever she may be. Maybe she's having tea with my abuela... who knows? Perhaps after death there is no such thing as a language barrier...

Sending love your way,
-maria

I'm so sorry that your Grandmother passed away. I can feel your love for her in your post.

Your post is especially touching to me today because it is the birthday of my grandmother who passed away last year.

I'm so sorry you lost your Grandma. I know how that feels. It is a huge loss and I often look at my Grandma's sweet face in her pictures round my house and wish I could hold her hand again.

THose rooms are my idea of AWESOME.

You are all too kind. Really, truly, too kind. But then again, that comes as no surprise. Thank you.

Oh, I am so sorry. I have been thinking about you and wanted to check in but at the same time, didn't want to intrude . . . I send you many hugs too and hope it gets a little easier as the days pass. xoxo, A.
