Okay ya'll, so I've caught the travel bug. This weekend the gods happened to be smiling upon us and circumstances were such that the Mr. and I were able to sneak away for a little weekend getaway. Let me say, this.never.happens. With three young children, our lives are chockful of activities and such, and the opportunity rarely presents itself. In fact, in the last ten years we have taken a little "alone time" precisely three times and that's including this weekend. So where did we go? Well, you'll laugh, but Biloxi Mississippi was the exotic destination.
Mr. P really wanted to gamble, the drive is relatively short, and we've never been. So why not! All I really wanted to do was put my feet up and lose myself in a book. But do you know what the best part of going to Biloxi is...well my friends, I'll tell you. The best part is that New Orleans is just an hour away. So Saturday we drove down to NOLA and it was beautiful. The city, the food, the architecture...I'm completely in love. The last time we visited this glorious city was before we had children, before we were married in fact, but seriously, it lived up to every memory and then some. Photos to come as soon as I can unload my camera.
But, getting back to these images. No, these are not from New Orleans, they are from the house at Hautefage, in beautiful France. As I mentioned, reading was high on my list of priorities for the weekend and in perfect timing, Barnes and Noble delivered my copy of The Sweet Life in Paris by David Lebovitz. After literally eating up David Lebovitz's essays on life and cooking in grand Paris, I've caught the travel bug and have visions of the rolling French countryside dancing in my head. And this beautiful home (and cooking school!) seems like the perfect location to fulfill those dreams.
Seems like a virtual vacation is in order and wouldn't this make for the perfect destination! Mais oui!

I'm so glad you got to get away! What fun! Did the mister win big? Nelya, that's exactly the book I'm in the mood to read right now -- I'm leaving your blog and ordering it! And that bottom photo? One of my all-time favorites.
Good for you that you got away for the weekend. I think that's so important!
That house! Absolutely gorgeous.
I looked through the website and couldn't find a price - I guess the old saying would apply, "if you have to ask the price....."
When our girlies were wee ones, we hardly ever got away, even though my husband was/is in the hotel business. It is such a treat for the soul to be swept away with your husband. You need it every so often. Good for you for having the adventure.
The place in France, the cooking school? Several months ago I sent info about it to my gal pals and suggested a get away together... our children are all grown and out of the house...or at least in college now. It is top on our list of to do's together.
By the way, do you know about this website?

You will be inspired by the rentals and the beautiful photos of the places. Enjoy.
me again,

Sounds like a great weekend!! You guys should try and get away more often!
I love New Orleans! It's one of my favorite cities, we were there in August - I love all the faded beauty and crumbly bits, the iron work and the gas lanterns! So romantic!
Can't wait to see pics!!
I totally want to see Biloxi - and that whole area - it's one of the things I'm looking forward to when I move! Glad you enjoyed yourself. And yes, France is always calling, isn't she?
Oh please please please post your shots of New Orleans.
As you know I'm partial to NOLa.
