ART

Sometimes a piece of art is the leading lady in a space and other times, best supporting actress. An oil painting, a photograph, a watercolor all might be the inspiration for the entire feel of a room or conversely, the perfect finishing touch- the icing on the cake, the cherry on top. I spotted the beautiful watercolor above on new-to-me blog Kelle Dame. Kelle happens to be, among many things, an artist. Clearly, a very talented artist. I inquired about this lovely still life and was excited when Kelle let me know that it is for sale. At 16''x20'' the peach painting most definitely falls into the leading lady category and would make for a gorgeous focal point in any interior. Kelle also takes on custom commissioned pieces and can create a beautiful painting to suit your fancy and compliment your home.

If you're looking for some inspiration for how to use art in your own home, just take a look at these gorgeous rooms. Whether your preference skews toward the contemporary or the traditional, abstract or realism, these beautiful works of art and the beautiful spaces in which they reside get my creative juices flowing. I don't think I can pick a favorite, can you?

I just love looking around the house and seeing that what I have on my walls are actually made by someone. Photographs, oil paintings, multi media collages... Art to me is a piece of the artist's soul. And they are staged in prominence, because it is my way of honouring them.

I love this post. I love art even more than chairs -- and some would say that's impossible. I love seeing your own home photos at right, nkp! When did you add that -- I love it. So many beautiful areas.
