My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Barcelona. Magical Barcelona. With its fanciful, centuries-old architecture, lyrical language, beautiful people...that trip will forever be ingrained in my subconscious. So when I came across this masterpiece of an 18th Century flat, smack dab in the middle of Barcelona, there was no way that I wouldn't fall hard. And I did. Look at the tile, people. You know they had me at the tile.

Like an icy cool drink on a hot summer's day, these spaces are completely refreshing...a palette cleanser. Whether you prefer simple and neutral or bold and colorful, Chris Barrett Design offers up beautiful rooms with incredible attention to detail that are all about creating an aah moment.
I am always awed when in the presence of great photography. A beautiful room is a beautiful room, no question, however when seen through the lens of a talented photographer it becomes so much more. Those fleeting moments when the light is just right, the mood, the ambiance, a memory captured or created...to be able to do this and do it well is no easy task. Yet, somehow, photographer Pia Ulin makes it appear effortless. Truly the mark of greatness, no?

First, because she posts images like these. Gorgeous interiors. But even more so, because of the raucous commentary. And lest I forget, she's a stylist. Yes, you know, one of those cooler-then-hip souls who gets to rifle through all those goods that we salivate over, who rubs elbows with the photographers we'd build shrines to, and who helps create the images that are fodder for our endless blog banter. She's the real deal folks. She's Emily Henderson and she's damn funny and darn talented. Check out her blog, The Brass Petal, and be prepared to be entertained. Make sure you've got some free time on your hands because your not going anywhere, any. time. soon.
