Winter White

Growing up in the South, I have seen only a handful of snowstorms and even then, what we consider a serious snowfall is probably a small nuisance to most. So whenever my husband suggests a ski trip, I laugh. We don't have the gear or the clothing, and when I peer into my crystal ball I can predict with certainty a trip to the emergency room after a day on the slopes.

But if this were the destination, perhaps I'd reconsider. Pretty amazing, no?

This is what I'm looking at when I should be sleeping.

Aren't these just dreamy? Must.go.to.sleep.now. "Goo Nigh," as my three-year-old would say.

"Vestiges of Grandeur"

Continuing on the theme of the South, some beautiful images of homes which have seen better days. And yet, in my opinion, although these homes are no longer habitable, they are perhaps more beautiful in this grand state of decay than they once were in their finest...

Another one bites the dust...

{image via wondertime}

So I was just checking in on the fabulously creative Amy at doobleh-vay and read of yet another magazine shutting down. This time it's Wondertime, not one you hear of on design-y blogs, but I had a subscription to this great parenting-type magazine and really enjoyed the stories and especially the excellent photographs. So sad that things continue to slide in this direction. That's two subscriptions in a matter of days. What is the future of print?

For an excellent discussion and many noteworthy comments check out Please Sir, here.

*SIGH*, Happy Weekend, nonetheless.

{p.s.- if you've got a moment, stop by doobleh-vay and give Amy some love, she was to have an article published in Wondertime. I think she is a fantastic writer and an all around incredibly inspiring mom!}

I've been dumbfounded, left speechless, and now I'm spellbound!

...those floors make my heart flutter

...this is the couch of my dreams

...perfectly imperfect in every way

...lookey there, I have those very Panton chairs, does that make me as cool as these people? (sadly, I fear not)

...the wallpaper, the rug, and that amazing chest...SWOON

... serenely beautiful, and I've always wanted that Ingo Maurer chandelier

...simple, lovely

...love the marble, love the wood table, but really, all I can think of is the constant giggling which that fine art photograph would elicit over cheerios, every morning, at my house...all I would hear would be numerous whispers of "boobies!"

...OMG...is that a swing in the dining room?

...why not, when the dining room is in the most incredible STABLE that there ever was...lucky horses

...peace and quiet

...those plates take it from functional to sublime

...light and shadow

...nothing quite like green after a rainfall

...it's a chalkboard, what else matters...actually those fabulous pull out drawers are painted in chalkboard paint as well, and labeled

...bookshelf lust
Okay, the coffee's brewing... as if I need anymore stimulation...
