Gone Fishing

A fishing shack in the Catskills gets a makeover. It went from a 1940s wood paneled cabin, to a light and bright nod to midcentury minimalist design. The owner, head of her own public relations firm, says she favors "style and function over pedigree." I think she forgot to mention comfort and whimsy...yes, that is a Balinese daybed beckoning seductively from the lawn.

Home Tour: Weekend Retreat

This is my kind of weekend retreat. A beautiful renovation using mostly found objects and salvaged materials turned an ugly duckling '70s cabin into a wonderful, character-filled family retreat. A chicken coop turned playhouse, a shed became a guesthouse, and a dilapidated critter-infested structure went from eyesore to eye-catching home!

Wouldn't it be lovely...

to wake up to that soft morning light...

and enjoy a long soak in here...

then proceed to this sweet spot for a little blogging...

...grab a cup of freshly brewed coffee...

and wile away the day nestled among the cushions with a good read.

SWOON

There is no rhyme or reason in posting these together, they are entirely unrelated, from different homes I believe. Yet I would be perfectly happy settling into either lovely scene, or better still, having a soak in that gorgeous light-filled space and then putting my feet up on that porch and escaping within the pages of a good read. I'd also be just as content to read and then soak, I'm easy like that.
