Time for Some Tile Inspiration

Yesterday morning the lovely Susie Q sent me a link to this magnificent tile company. Later that afternoon, the equally lovely Mrs. C, who is in the midst of building a most amazing family home in the Irish countryside, put in a request for some tile inspiration. I suppose this might be the Universe's way of telling me it's time for a tile round-up. And I am happy to oblige because I love me some gorgeous, exotic tile. For your viewing pleasure. Enjoy.

There are some amazing images here! I have been very all or nothing later - give me great, detailed tiles or just some plain old penny rounds. Love the door in the moroccan image....

Nelya, how did you develop your aesthetics sense? I grew up in Brazil and a lot of your images remind me of some architectural details of the older homes there... I'd love to read a post on your style development. These images look morrocan, and perhaps southern coastal Europe. Hmmmmm....

Hi Mrs. Pebble...my aesthetics sense...hmmm, no exciting stories of interior design degrees, or art history classes, or an architecture background, for that matter. Lots of academia in my back pocket, but more of the political science and law variety. I actually have a law degree, but have been a stay at home mama for a long, long time.

I just happen to love interior design/decoration and all that goes with it. Really it is just a matter of my taste. I just happen to be acutely aware of what I like and don't like and yes, my tastes seem to wander in the direction of Latin America (color!!!) and Europe (I was born there, but left as a very young chid) and absolutely the exoticism of Morocco and North Africa. There really is no rhyme or reason to my taste. I happen to like a little of most everything. Eclectic, bohemian, vintage modern, industrial. As you can see, I could go on and on (and often do :-) )!

Does that answer your question? Thanks for your interest in little old me. I hope you are enjoying my posts!

Oh wow, so much to take in. I must say those white chairs with the tall backs in the second photo and the incorporation of wood in the third photo steal my heart:)

I am truly enjoying reading your posts and looking at all of the fun, unique pics. I too am an educated stay at home mom... Most of our readers are too, I am sure. It is such a treat finding like minded people that enjoy a bit of our universe with us. All of that and dirty diapers too. :)

OH MY GOD!! That was almost too much to take. that room with the gray and white chevron pattern next to the gray and white squiggly pattern and then that white old style sink with that wall of pattern next to those copper pots. dying.
i have really come to appreciate and even love tile more over the last year.

Ok, so I hate tile. Every house we look at has nasty screenprinted tile that I dread ripping out, because ripping out tile is a b*tch of a job.

BUT, you have singlehandedly changed my mind. I'm now considering ripping out old nasty tile and replacing it with new, awesome tile.

Wow. A+ roundup!

Lovely...there's nothing like beautiful tile on the feet in the heat of summer...such a refreshing and cool feeling.

There are so many gorgeous examples here! Black and white? Always a classic, but my preference still is the warm colored European ones you show. Divine and timeless!

Excellent information and facts. Only real difficulty I was basically receiving was viewing the pics. No idea exactly why.
