It all seems so effortless, doesn't it. That something French, that je ne sais quoi, that not quite definable, elusive, can't-quite-put-your-finger-on it quality. I don't think I'll solve the mystery in a blog post, but let me just note the key elements; the gorgeous herringbone floors(!), the original beams and fireplaces, the spectacular lighting, and the deft mix of modern furniture housed within this classical framework. Nothing short of ooh la la!
I suspect you know by now exactly what's coming and I know I'll sound like a broken record, but I'm okay with that. So let's offer up a collective ooh and aah over that heavenly tiled floor and while I'm at it, let me note that the rest of the room is pretty marvelous as well. I imagine a sandy beach is just beyond that curtained doorway. Can I hear a hell yeah!

Last week there was a decidedly Fall-ish crispness in the air. The mornings were chilly, the evenings the same, and we even rolled the fire pit into the cul-de-sac to roast marshmallows with friends. This weekend the temperatures were back in the eighties and I feel cheated. So I'll just stare at these beautiful autumnal images and keep my fingers crossed that cardigans and boots will be back on the menu soon.

More beautiful interior photography, this time from the wicked talented Tobias Harvey.
I wouldn't mind putting my feet up and vegging out on this view either.

As much as I love color and pattern and decorating with wild abandon, sometimes clean and simple is the way to go. There is something pure and honest about these interiors. With their use of natural elements-wood, metal, leather, cotton textiles and the stark white background they seem to exude a peaceful sense of being. I think those Danes are on to something.
