Samperton Style

I first fell for Schuyler Samperton's fresh take on traditional years ago. I still remember a feature in one of the shelter magazines (House Beautiful, maybe) highlighting her wonderful green hued study. In fact, I think it pops up in one of the images below. Well, her portfolio continues to delight. Familiar forms are somehow young and new when she works her magical touch. Beautiful, classic, and timeless also seem apropos when describing her style. I just really love it all and if you have a moment to scroll through Samperton's portfolio, take note of the rugs. Her choices are absolutely drool-worthy.

P.S.-Samperton has recently joined the blogosphere. Check out Sparks, Interior Design and Beyond for more of her unique point of view.

Circa 1971

That's right, '71! I could literally move right in.

On another note, I wanted to offer up a big congrats to my hugely talented friend, Michelle. Check out her amazing paintings below, as featured in the new Anthropologie catalogue. Oh, yes, I said Anthropologie. And they are lucky to have her, in my humble opinion. Way to go, Michelle!

Quirky, Layered, and Red

Great old house, beautifully restored, and 0h-so-personal. I'm a sucker for natural, organic decorative elements and this place is positively overflowing. Gnarly branches, turtle shells, coral, petrified wood, and antlers...I'm loving all the quirky objects layered just so.

If you're looking for some character-full pieces to add that special touch to your home, we have some wonderful natural decorative accessories currently gracing the MINTY shelves. A turtle shell, a trio of bookend pairings in petrified wood, green marble, and gorgeous agate, and a handful of coral. Let me know if you've been on the prowl for a natural curiosity.

Have a wonderful week, friends!

I'm just dying to walk through those doors and check out the rest of this quirky, traditional- with-a-twist boudoir.

En Francais

It all seems so effortless, doesn't it. That something French, that je ne sais quoi, that not quite definable, elusive, can't-quite-put-your-finger-on it quality. I don't think I'll solve the mystery in a blog post, but let me just note the key elements; the gorgeous herringbone floors(!), the original beams and fireplaces, the spectacular lighting, and the deft mix of modern furniture housed within this classical framework. Nothing short of ooh la la!

Daily Pretty

I love the magic that is happening at the top (or bottom) of this stairway landing. Here's another one of those gorgeous brick, barrel vaulted ceilings. Unlike the one we visited here and here, this one is a bit crumbly and showing its age. Which, frankly, is right up my alley.

Cozy

Day two of Snow Siege 2011 is officially underway here at Casa Head Over Heels. We are under 8 plus inches of the powdery white stuff and for us here in the Southeast, it is an unprecedented, not oft seen snowfall. The kiddos are dying to pile on the hats and mittens and get back out on their new sled. I am slightly less enthused and need a little cozy sustenance in the way of these warm, woody, nap-inducing interiors. Aah, I feel better already.

Off to finish my cup of coffee and then off to brave the elements. Hope your day is equally as promising.
