Samperton Style

I first fell for Schuyler Samperton's fresh take on traditional years ago. I still remember a feature in one of the shelter magazines (House Beautiful, maybe) highlighting her wonderful green hued study. In fact, I think it pops up in one of the images below. Well, her portfolio continues to delight. Familiar forms are somehow young and new when she works her magical touch. Beautiful, classic, and timeless also seem apropos when describing her style. I just really love it all and if you have a moment to scroll through Samperton's portfolio, take note of the rugs. Her choices are absolutely drool-worthy.

Mona Hajj Interiors

What a mix! Traditional American furnishings combined with amazing exotic textiles and fabulous art. Oh, and of course, there's also the architecture. See more of Mona Hajj's beautiful work, here.

Bookish

Feel free to call me bookish, there are few places I'd rather be than holed up in a good room with a good book. This room certainly qualifies with its floor to ceiling bookshelves, beautifully patterned rug, and plenty of cushy seating.

Berrylicious

Remember this utterly breathtaking space? Well I happened to spot it from another vantage point and thought you'd like to see more. The glass wall only gets better and while I normally would shy away from raspberry in such bold strokes, lordy, it works here.

Speaking of raspberry, check out this positively luscious entry below. Really, I am completely blown away by its perfection. I think there is nothing extraneous here. The execution of all the details is so deft, subtle and yet bold. Whoever designed this room knew precisely when to stop and that is no easy task. It melts my heart, pure and simple.

"Katrina Patina"

I love a happy ending, who doesn't. And when that happy ending takes place in one of my favorite cities, well, all the better. This lovely New Orleans home didn't actually survive the devastation of Katrina, but thankfully the homeowners did. Despite the devastation that ensued, they returned to the Crescent City and built a new cottage where their previous home once stood. The aftermath of Katrina took a toll on their home, their livelihood, even their marriage, yet they persevered. Like I said, I love a happy ending...especially when it looks as lovely as this.

Happy Friday!

I haven't quite located my blogging mojo (perhaps it's in the garage with everything else that's gone missing in our household), but you know I can't resist sharing a pretty picture. This one qualifies, don't you agree? I'm actually hyper-focused on the lower half. In fact, the juxtaposition of that gorgeous floor, the oriental rug, and the sleek polished stone side table are killing me. In a good way.

Daily Pretty

Just popping in to say hello! I'm still running on full throttle, my littlest one is "graduating" pre-K tonight. Cap, gown, and all! But I came across the above image this morning and just had to share. How's that for some inspiration. I love me some orange, especially when it comes in the form of burnt rusts. Tomorrow is finally the last day of school and plopping down on that sofa with a pile of magazines would be the perfect finale to my hectic, but joyful week!
